Scott Summers' role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine plot

By ash - Posted on 15 November 2008

The news of Scott Summers' character having a cameo in X-Men Origins: Wolverine has stirred continuity disapproval from fans of the X-Men film series. Some think 20th Century Fox are damaging the movie's potential reputability, with an unnecessary attempt to maximise cameos for mainstream appeal. Others recognise that they could be preparing audiences for a young Cyke lead in other spin offs movies (see Tim Pocock as Cyclops in X-Men: First Class?).

The film is set approximately 17 years prior to the X-Men film, when Wolverine and Cyclops appeared to met for the first time. So there has been lots of speculation on how Tim's character will fit into the movie. Some possibilities are:

* There will be a tie in with Stryker bringing his son to Professor X
* Scott is actually someone else who has used shapeshifting/metamorphosis to appear as Cyclops
* Scott has his memory wiped after an encounter with Wolverine
* Scott is blindfolded during an encounter with Wolverine
* Scott appears in a premonition or dream sequence
* Scott will bump into Wolverine incidentally, such as at a grocery store
* Wolverine will see Scott on TV with Professor X
* At some point in the movie there will be a character montage
* There will be a tie in with Gambit or Mr Sinister or Sabertooth sub-plots
* Wolverine and Scott are subject to experiments by the same scientists

What possibility has the most likelihood? We hope to receive a confirmation soon.

Update #1: Wolverine and Silver Fox may rescue Cyclops from captivity in Stryker's prison, while he is blindfolded. According to Wikipedia, this was confirmed in the January 2009 edition of Empire Magazine.
